The Greatest Escape to Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

I will personally called a visit to Phu Quoc Island as the greatest escape to undeveloped white sand beaches which run miles away plus almost 90% forestry on the island. This island is still very wild and beautiful which has attracted many worlds’ travellers during their travelling in Vietnam.

How to get here?

By Air

Vietnam Airlines connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Phu QUoc Island with four daily fligts. Besides, there are flights from Hue, Danang, Hanoi and Nha Trang as well. From the airport, you can take “xe om” a motorbike driver to bring you to your guesthouse.  

By Land & Water

You can travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Rach Gia by bus and take hydrofoil or ferries to Duong Dong town in Phu Quoc Island.

What to do in Phu Quoc Island?

Well, most of the beachside backpackers’ hotels are located at the south of Duong Dong town. There are two types of activities to do in Phu Quoc Island which is water and beach activities or exploring the forest.

Beach & Water Activities

Nothing is better than relaxing on the white-sand beaches in Phu Quoc and some sun bathing. Bai Sao, Bai Dam and Bai Thom are among the famous site for picnic in Phu Quoc Island. Besides, you also can take a walk to near the fishing village for photo snapping.

You also can charter a boat (around USD50 per day) for island hoping to An Thoi Islands at the southern part of Phu Quoc Island. You also can go for swimming, snorkelling and fishing during this island tour.

Exploring Forest

Since 90% of Phu Quoc Island is forest reserve (Khu Rung Nguyen Sinh), it worth for you to rent a motorbike and get here for hiking. Take note that there is no exactly trails and you might need a guide for hiking. At centre of the island, you can find two hot springs called Suoi Da Ban and Suoi Tranh.

Last but not least, most of the hotels in Phu Quoc come with café or restaurant.  So, make a stroll and you can choose the most appeal one to enjoy.
