360° Snapshot from Kuala Lumpur (KL) Tower, Malaysia

This time I would like to share some photos that my mate snapped from the observation deck from Menara Kuala Lumpur or some people call it as Kl Tower. We was here around 5.00pm and this observation deck was so crowd with local and foreign tourist.

The ticket to this this observation deck is not cheap though. RM38 for adult and RM28 for children. Then, at this observation deck, nothing much to do besides seeing the 360 degree view of KL city and theres no time limit to be at the deck.

So, here I would like to show some photos that we managed to snap during our recent trip. Apology for bad quality photo as we were using our old camera for this shooting.

Menara Kuala Lumpur Fun Fact

The tower is located 515 meter above to sea level with 421 metre high. This KL Tower is located on top of the Bukit Nanas and was officially launch by former Malaysia Prime Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad on 1st October 1996 and this is the 7th tallest telecommunication building in the world.

STICKY - The First Rock Candy Store in Malaysia @The Pavilion

Whenever I went to Pavilion, Bukit Bintang, I always see people carrying a paper bag with pinkish wording STICKY. At first, I don't know what is that until one day, I'm passing by the Food Republic at Lower Ground floor and discover this cute & pinkish shop which their only product is rock candy.

This Sticky is the first Malaysia's rock candy store and the history start from the "Land of Down Under - Sydney." It comes with various colours and the best part is, the unique technique to make this rock candy and they make it life in front of you.

How they made the candy? Let see this short video about the long process to produce this hand-made and yummy candy.

So, if you want to enjoy this rock candy, walk further to the food court (Food Republic) at LG  floor of the Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur and find the giant & pinkish Sticky shop signboard.

A Sudden Lunch at Bar-B-Q Plaza, IOI Mall, Puchong

Well, going to supermarket to buy weekly groceries is one of our routine. On last weekend, we just wandering lazily in IOI Mall after done with groceries shopping at AEON supermarket and we found a very good BBQ deal at Bar-B-Q Plaza restaurant (RM49.00++ for 2 person).

RM49.00++ for all this? At first we thought this is just a small meal for 2 person. But then, when we finished our meal, we were extremely full and feel so lazy to walk home.

Top right photo is the drinks, Blue Island Soda and the red one is a Dragon Fruit Soda. At bottom left, is the Fried Thai Spring Roll. We enjoy our drink and the spring roll skin was so crispy and yummy.
This is the mixed set. It consist of veggies like cabbage, green salad, carrot and tomato. Besides, u can see slices of fresh meats, prawn, squid and chicken. So, we are ready for barbeque-ing.
This is the BBQ stove. At first, I have no idea about how things will work. Typically in my mind, barbeque need fire and smoke to cook the meat, but here, the fire is down under and we will put meat at the centre of this BBQ stove and soup will be pour at the circle part of the BBQ stove. I will re-zoom this at below photo.

The garlic rice here was really rich with garlic taste. Good to compliment with the freshness of the BBQ meat plus the sweet sauce on the side.

Yummy! Other than the Mixed Set above, we have this Marinated Chicken Drumstick which will be BBQ together on the BBQ stove. All meat are in a fine quality for BBQ-ing. Easy to cook and very tender.

Finally, we are enjoying our BBQ lunch with our own way. This is how we BBQ (cook) our meat on the BBQ stove.
Will we come again to this BBQ, Bar-B-Q Plaza Restaurant, definitely a yes when we crave for fresh meat. But yet, I always will remind myself, BBQ is one of the most unfair food in the world because, you pay expensive for it and yet, you have to cook by yourself.

My Regular Dinner at Tokyo Kitchen, Berjaya Times Square

Tokyo Kitchen is one of my favorite spot if I am looking for a quick and value for money Japanese set dinner or lunch. My recent dinner at Tokyo Kitchen was on Groupon voucher with value RM60 (I bought it at RM35) and this voucher is actually more than enough for 2 person.

I normally will go to Tokyo Kitchen which is located nearby my house at Setia Walk, Puchong. But this time, me and my mate, Christopher went to their brand new outlet at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.

Chicken Teriyaki Set and Salmon Set which consisted of Chawanmushi, salad, Miso Soup, tofu and white rice. As always, Teriyaki Chicken is my always favorite Japanese foods and I like the one from Tokyo Kitchen. The Salmon,  I think it is 'just' okay. Maybe Salmon fish is not really my favorite dish.
The different about this Tokyo Kitchen and other Japanese restaurant is they mostly served rice (bento set) instead of sushi and noodles (udon). But then, there are limited choice of sushi and udon for you to choose too.
I like the interior style of this Tokyo Kitchen. More or less, it is almost the same with the other outlet at Setia Walk Puchong. Just, this place is more spacious and less crowded. With typical Japanese style interior design, dining out in this restaurant will bring you to a 'Japanese' world with square big windows, lantern and wooden walls.

So, if you ever lost in Times Square, why don't you climb to 4th floor of this massive shopping centre and enjoy a good price dinner at Tokyo Kitchen.

The Famous Teochew Cendol, Penang Road

Having Teochew Cendol at Penang Road and enjoying a bowl of Assam Laksa is one of the must do things when coming to Penang. This place is just walking distance from the iconic Komtar building at the corner of Lebuh Keng Kwee. No matter what time you come to this corner, you will always see a big crowd of people standing and having Cendol and some other are queuing to get their one.

Seeing people standing and having their Cendol is very normal here. People queue,
chit chatting  and if there's no place to sit, standing and having the Cendol is an option.
My personal quote, "Rain or shine, local or outsider, people will queue for the Cendol here. Sometimes, I wonder, what so special about this Cendol. Well, as other people said, it famous and everybody just follow others to try what is the different of this Cendol compared to others. As for me, this Cendol is fine, but not really my favorite.
Looking for more spaces, walk further from the busy people queuing and you will see this green Penang Road Teochew Cendol and try to luck to get stools to sit. In here you can get the delicious Assam laksa & Rojak as well.

Assam Laksa. One of the famous food in Penang. If you ever have it it other places in Penang, why don't you give a try for this one too and taste the different?

This is the Cendol. Rich with Gula Melaka (Segar palm) taste and
the shaved ice was really smooth.
The rojak. Typically, this is how to upsell and make money for the business.
People not only here for Assam Laksa & Cendol, but also for this rojak.
23+It is a
delicious combination of fruits and turnips with gravies on top.

So, lets join the crowd and enjoy the famous Cendol here. We went here again the day after for more foods which will be shared in my next posting.

Supper at Marshall Burmah Road, Penang

It was a rainy eve in Penang and we were looking for something quick to have to feed our empty stomach. This place called Marshall islocated a distance from our hotel (Royal Penang Hotel) or to be exact nearby the junction of Nagore street and Burmah Road. Entering this restaurant, it was empty without any customer. Our first thought, is this restaurant good?

We proceed to the counter to order or food. In short, this restaurant is serving Patties or some called it as Burger. There are various kind of patties for you to choose here. Besides, you also can order side dishes such fries a mashed potatoes.

After paying and waiting for awhile, our food is ready and big surprise ! Marshall served one of the best burger in my life. The patty was so rich with flavours and very juicy. I should say it juicy. So, if it's happen for you to pass by this area, don't miss a chance to try the burger here. Looking for supper and wanna go away from local Penang food for awhile? Don't worry because this Marshall close at 12.00 am daily.

Food Hunting with family at Assam Pedas Parit Jawa, Muar

When previously we went for a delicious Mee Bandung Muar at Abu Bakar Hanipah, it actually never end there. We continued our journey to Parit Jawa to hunt for a famous Parit Jawa Assam Pedas "Literally as Sour & Spicy local dish, mostly fish".

Driving from Muar Town to Parit Jawa will take about 15 to 30 minutes by driving to the south of the town. As usual, we set our Waze apps to Jalan Jabbar (Medan Assam Pedas Parit Jawa) for this mission.

If you are driving from Muar town, this Assam Pedas place is on your right side of the 2 way road before arriving to Parit Jawa town. Look closely for the sign board of Medan Assam Pedas Parit Jawa on the road side if you don't wanna get lost.

Basically, this area is a jetty area. When you arrived here, you will see a row of stalls selling drinks and of course, the Assam Pedas. Two of my favorite places are Assam Pedas Mak Pon and Pak Ya's. Even the weather was really hot, this place is still full with customers to enjoy the sourness and the spiciness of the Assam Pedas here.

Me and my mother at Medan Assam Pedas Parit Jawa. One thing about my mother, she don't eat big fishes (no matter what) and I had to choose the smallest type of fish for her.
We ordered two Assam Pedas Cencaru Fish "Torpedo Scad Fish" for me and my mother. For my dad, I ordered half fish head of Mayong Fish (Ariid  Catfish) which is really big than normal. Side dishes, we ordered a small portion of veggies and one omelette which is a normal choice to compliment the taste of the Assam Pedas. Oh ya! Total for all this including 5 plates of white rice and plain water was RM35.00. Really!!! Really!!! Cheap.

Then I forgot to order for my mate Chris. So, I get him another part of Mayong fish with price RM12 for this serving. One of the best thing about this Assam Pedas is the soup is sour and spicy and you can drink it all without worry of  getting stucked with fish bone or whatever.
Please apology my dramatic action here.
A big pot of Mayong Fish Assam Pedas. Besides Cencaru Fish & Mayong, there are other fishes for you to choose such as red snapper and other river fish as well.
More photos, why don't you click the blog posting by Johor Kaki for more excitement.

Address: Stall No.6, Medan Assam Pedas (off Jalan Jabbar) Parit Jawa, Muar, Johor.

The Famous Mee Bandung Muar: Abu Bakar Hanipah

I normally don't drag my family when going out for food hunting. But this version of food hunting is very special when my parents and brother joined my trip to Muar town to find the famous Mee Bandung Muar, one of the signature dish in Johor, or particularly in Muar.

After reading a quick review from Johor Kaki, we set our GPS direction on Waze and start our journey here. Abu Bakar Hanipah Mee Bandung is something that many people in town hunting for. We arrived to this restaurant around 12.00pm and the restaurant was really crowded with hungry customers.

First thing that you will see when sitting in the restaurant is hundreds of customers (famous or not) pasted on the restauran't wall. From the Johor Sultan, government officers, local and tourists, all of their smiley faces can be found on the restaurant's wall.

This is Enche Abu Bakar Hanipah, the owner of this Abu Bakar Hanipah
Mee Bandung Muar. According to him, the Mee Bandung Muar recepi
is from his father and the famous Mee Bandung was established since 1930s
.

From left, My mate - Chris, Me, Enche Abu Bakar Hanipah, My dad, my younger brother & my mom.
This is the famous Mee Bandung. RM4.50 per serving. Not too spicy, and rich with ingredients and flavours. I normally have it a bit spicy at other places, but in here it was a bit mild for my taste bud. The secret of of a delicious serving of Mee Bandung is at the gravy.

I can say that Enche Abu Bakar is really passionate about his Mee Bandung
Muar. If you want to make the same Mee Bandung Muarat home, you may buy
the Mee Bandung paste from this restaurant which will cost you RM10.00 per
pack which is ready for 7 servings.
So, when its happen that you are visiting Muar, set 69-A  Jalan Abdullah, Muar on your Waze Apps on Smartphone and explore the authentic Mee Bandung Muar here.
