An Evening at Shin Kee Beef Noodles, Kuala Lumpur

The first thing we did when coming back to Kuala Lumpur from our Penang short trip was hunting for foods. Our bus stopped at KL Sentral and we took LRT from there to Pasar Seni (Central Market) before walking to this beef noodle restaurant.

This beef noodle restaurant is located a distance from the LRT station heading to Chinatown entrance along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (heading to Kotaraya Shopping Mall).

This restaurant is not big, just can fit maximum 20 customers at one time. Customer can choose to have either Beef Ball Noodle (RM7.00) or Beef Mixed Noodle (RM9.00). Don't worry, even you ordered a bowl of Beef Ball Noodle, it will come with combination of slices of beef, mixtures or minced beef and of course the beef noodle.

This dish is very simple and quick, yet very delicious. If I can compare between this noodle and Ngau Kee Famous Beed Noodle at Tengkat Tung Shin Street, Bukit Bintang, I would prefer to have this instead.

So, if you are ever lost in Chinatown or Central Market area, walk ahead to this small beef noodle restaurant to enjoy their noodle and share with me your experience here.

Mee Goreng Sotong, Squid Fried Noodle at Burmah Road, Penang

My first time heard about Mee Goreng Sotong (Squid Fried Noodle) was few weeks ago when my Facebook friend, Liliana bought this noodle for her husband while outstation to the Pearl of Orient, Penang.

Ok, at first we supposed to go to the one at Bangkok Lane, but then it was close and we decided to see what were the nearby restaurants offer. Finally, we stopped to a restaurant at the corner of Moulmein Road and Burmah Road.

The cook is a India (I assumed she is a Muslim)  women with a very basic preparation at her cooking station. While waiting for our Mee Goreng Sotong ready, we were curious about the taste of the famous dishes. And nah! our Mee Goreng Sotong look like other Mee Goreng Mamak in town, that is our first impression when it delivered to our table. Only then, we start to taste the tenderness or the squid which very well blend with the fried noodle really gave us a different taste.

RM4.50 for normal portion and RM5.50 per serving for Mee Goreng with extra squid. This Mee Goreng Sotong is really cheap and one of my favorite. My next visit, is to hunt for another Mee Goreng Sotong which supposed to be at Bangkok Lane.

An After-noon at Famosa Chicken Rice Ball, Jonker Walk, Melaka

My recent trip to Malacca was really fun. Even the weather was really hot and humid, we managed to snap a lot of nice photos especially at temple and shops along the Jonker Walk. After few hours burning ourselves and sneaking hear and there, we finally end up our photography trip by having lunch at Famosa  Chicken Rice Ball restaurant.

Unlike other places, the chicken rice here they make it round like a ping pong ball size and it's hot. So, I don't dare to swallow it all at once. During our visit, the restaurant was really full with hungry customers, local and travellers. The restaurant was comprised of 2 floors and the wall painted in red colour which is look very historical and unique.

Menu in hand, so we ordered 10 pieces of rice balls, 1/4 part of roasted chicken, cabbage cooked with Tomyam flavour and 2 bowls of Cendol. Besides, there are many other dishes and sweet beverages for you to choose as well.

The different between this chicken rice ball with other kind of chicken rice in Malaysia, it is not coming with soup on the side. Correct me if I am wrong, because I think, I need to order soup on the side which is not free in order to complete my lunch course.

My self rating my food, this is something different and I need to try chicken rice ball from other places before doing any comparison. Anyhow, the roasted chicken is quiet nice, but I can't eat the cabbage with tomyam flavour (my mate finished it all). The Cendol, I have no idea why it's a little bit bitter which it suppose to be sweet.

Spending total RM29.00 for the whole course in Melaka, it's a bit pricey for local people which mean RM14.50 per person. Will I come back here, I think "No" as I prefer to try chicken rice ball from other restaurant in Malacca.
