My Experience at R&R Sungai Perak, PLUS Highway
We were on our way to Penang from Kuala Lumpur via PLUS Highway and we stopped at Sungai Perak R&R area to fuel up our car. But our experience at Sungai Perak R&R doesn't end up at the petrol station only. While making a big round at the area, we found out that the design for this R&R is really unique. Somehow, it was look like a fort by the Perak river (Sungai Perak).
We park our car and climb the escalator to the food court area. FYI, not many R&R area do have escalator and to have one at Sungai Perak R&R really shocked me. The food court area was really happening. There are many stalls selling various kind of foods such as Singapore Chicken Rice, Assam Laksa, Mee Rebus, mixed rice and many more. My eyes keep strolling to those delicious foods, the price is really cheap and the portion was really reasonable.
So, we finally decided to order a serving of Assam Laksa, Mee Rebus and Chicken Rice. If I am not wrong, each dish cost us about RM3.50 to RM4.00 per serving. Trust me, all foods that we ordered taste really good.
Other factor that made me chose Sungai Perak R&R as my favorite rest stop is, most of the sellers here are Malay compared to other R&R (especially in the south parts of PLUS highway) where normally the workers/sellers are Indonesian, Nepalese or Bangla. So, I can say that, the feeling here is very different when I can buy my foods from local people.
Other than food court, you also can buy fruits, junk foods or snack before you continue your journey to the north. Not only that, there are other amenities available for you to use here such as toilet and prayer room (surau) too.
So, if you were heading to the north via PLUS Highway, this Sungai Perak R&R is a good spot to fuel up your car as well as your stomach.
